Canadian Thanksgiving 🦃 and Halloween 🎃 have come and gone and the Christmas Holidays 🎄are right around the corner.
As much as we look forward to the holidays, they are often accompanied by stress, sadness, loneliness or grief 😰. And stress is often accompanied by stress behaviours (stress eating or drinking, short tempers, bingeing on Netflix – to name a few).
➕Add in a pandemic and that stress is multiplied ✖️. Can I get a 🙋🏻♀️?
Before you engage in stress behaviours, I invite you to pause...and choose an action or two to help disrupt the stress cycle BEFORE it happens. 🛑
For example:
Take 3 deep breaths 🌬
Drink a big glass of water 🚰
Go for a walk 🚶🏻♀️
Play with your pet for 5 minutes 🐈 🦮
Dance it out 💃
This is a pic of me from the summer...hitting the reset button by dancing in the dark.
It helps get me out of a funk and distracts me from hitting the easy buttons.
Have you been hitting the ‘easy button’ and engaging in stress behaviours more often than you’d like? 🔘
Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it helps to eat that sweet treat or distract yourself with a Christmas movie. 🍫🍿🎬.
In fact, I encourage you to indulge in a sweet treat or Netflix movie every now and then...not because you NEED to but because you ENJOY it! I invite you to do it mindfully and slowly, with intention. 🧡
However, if you feel like those stress behaviours are becoming your ‘go to’ with little or no relief (and maybe some grief), give this reset menu a try or create your own with activities that are nourishing and quick and easy to access. 📝
Do you have an activity that you use to help you reset or pause long enough to make a more informed decision/action? 🎯 Give us a 🌬🚰🚶🏻♀️🐈🦮💃 if any of these resonate with you.
